July 2021 Wrap Up

Hello! Today I want to talk about the books I read in July. I know I am a little late with getting this post up. I was away at the beginning of this month, and since then I’ve been playing a little bit of catch up.

In July I read nine books. I had such a good reading month. It was my first full reading month since coming out of a reading slump, and I am so happy with the number of books that I managed to read. I am still in the mood for romance books; however, I started the month with contemporary romance, and have ended it in a very historical romance mood, which has very much continued into August. Without further ado, let’s get into the books I read in July.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown; Take a Hint, Dani Brown & Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

I have been wanting to read the Brown Sister’s series ever since I found out about the series last year. I had such a good time reading this series. I fell in love with all three sisters, and their love interests. The books were hilarious, but there were moments that made me shed a tear too. I think Dani Brown’s story was my favourite! I loved Talia Hibbert’s writing style and I can’t wait to pick up some more of her books.

Heartstopper: Volume 1 by Alice Oseman

I loved this graphic novel. I think this was my third time reading the novel and reviewed it last year: read here. I’ve reread it in anticipation of reading the other books in the series and then reading Volume 4 which is the newest instalment. I’m so excited to read the other ones in the series and the new edition too!

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

I finally got round to reading Red, White & Royal Blue! And to be honest, I think I left this one too long to read. The hype got to me. I did enjoy it, but no where near as much as I thought I would, or how much everyone else seems to. So, I am a little bit disappointed in this one. It is a weird conflicting one, because I enjoyed it, yet I’m disappointed by it. Odd one.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The hype for this one, however, did not get to me. I loved this one! I completely understand why everyone loves it, and now I love it too. I was completely blown away by this novel. I devoured it in one day. I stayed up until two o’clock in the morning because I just could not go to sleep without finishing this book. If you’re on the fence about reading this one – 100% go for it!

On the Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher

I am slowly getting Carrie Hope Fletcher’s novels off my TBR, and this month I decided to pick up On the Other Side. I enjoyed this one too. It wasn’t my favourite of her novels, but still enjoyable, nonetheless. I believe this was her debut fiction novel, and I think that was evident in the writing style. Looking forward to reading another novel by her! On my shelf, I think that the only one I have left is In the Time We Lost!

The Duke and I & The Viscount who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

Finally, I have started reading The Bridgerton series. Ever since watching the Netflix TV show, I have been wanting to read the series and I am so glad that I have finally started it. I am loving being in the Bridgerton world. There isn’t anything particularly grand about these novels, but the way the characters are written it is impossible not to fall in love with all of them and I cannot wait to get introduced to the rest of the siblings!

That is all the books I read in July! I am so happy with the amount I have read. I brings my total up to 47 in the year so far, which means that I am still behind target to read 100 books by the end of the year. My reading pace is picking back up though, and I am still confident I can make more progress and catch up soon!

How was your reading month? And how is your overall progress for the year going?

Me too! I think I’m going to read The Princess Trap by her! I’ve also heard rumours that she’s writing a spin off series from the Brown Sisters trilogy which I’m really excited about
