William Reid is nothing special, except for his billion-dollar acting career and his, you know, face. (Apparently, it’s a good one.) Winning ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ was nice, but this Christmas, he has more important goals in mind… like finally winning over his best friend’s little sister, the super-smart and kinda-scary Abbie Farrell.
When a blizzard leaves Will and Abbie alone at Grandma Farrell’s house (if bunking with 27 pets counts as ‘alone’), it’s the perfect opportunity to pull off a Christmas miracle. Convincing clever, frosty Abbie to give Will a chance will take more than mistletoe, but hiding his lifelong crush on her is no longer an option.
Wrapped up in You by Talia Hibbert was my first Christmas book of the year! It was a really cute short story that I would have loved to have been a full length novel. I could have stayed with the characters and in the story for hundreds of more pages. At the same time though, it was the perfect length to start the Christmas reading season off with.
The short story follows Abbie and Will, two childhood friends who have both had feelings for each other for a long time. This year though, Will has decided enough is enough and he is going to make his move. Part of the reason why I want a full length novel, is because each of these characters have such a past. Will is an actor and has been living in the states and is incredibly famous, but he didn’t have a great childhood, so I would have loved to dive deeper into that. Similarly, Abbie has just come out of a traumatic divorce and I really wanted to get into that too and the story could have grown so much.
Talia Hibbert’s writing style has become one of my favourites this year, so it was really nice to read another story by her and one that is all about Christmas too. Her characters are so authentic and the banter that she includes in the books is always my favourite. I can’t wait to see what else she comes out with and I would be really excited if she came out with another Christmas book – especially if it was a full length novel!
Have you read this book or do you plan to? Let me know!
This sounds like a cute read! Lovely review!
