Autumn Reading Tag

Hello! To ease myself back into blogging, I thought I would do the Autumn Reading Tag which I found over on Zezee With Books. Autumn i my favourite time of year. I love all of the coziness and the chill in the air. I have of course already started my Gilmore Girls rewatch and dug out all of my bulky cardigans, and now I am ready to do the book tag.

Are there any books you plan on reading over the Autumn season?

There are so many that I like the sound of, and I have a huge list of books I want to read. I am a mood reader, so there are some books from last year that I have been waiting for this time of year to read them such as White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson and Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. And then I am so excited for the sequel to The Ex Hex, The Kiss Curse, so that one is definitely high up on the list.

September brings back ‘Back to School’ memories: what book did you enjoy studying?

I actually quite liked a lot of the books I studied including The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne and Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo – I’ve always loved history! I also really enjoyed Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley and Skellig by David Almond, although that one always used to creep me out.

October means Halloween: Do you enjoy scary books and films?

Scary films, yes! Although I am such a wimp with them and I haven’t watched very many. But the ones I have watched, I have enjoyed! I haven’t read very many scary books, but recently, I have been wanting to read more scary books, so we shall soon see how interested in these I am!

With November, it is time for bonfire night and firework displays. What’s the most exciting book you’ve read that really kept you gripped?

If you’ve read my most recent post about my reading slump, you will know I haven’t read too many this year! However, the ones that I have read, I have really loved! Two of these that really gripped me this year were: Daisy ones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid; House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J Maas; and The No-Show byBeth O’Leary.

What book is your favourite cosy comfort read?

I have so many comfort reads, but the main two (series) are The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, and A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. I tend to reread these series every year, and I haven’t yet this year, but there is still time!

Curled up with a good book, what is your hot drink of choice?

Tea! I am classically British in that way, but I always have a cup of tea beside me!

I sometimes forget how much I love book tags! They always remind me of books that I want to/need to get reading! And they often given me the space to gush about my favourite books.

Scary books- really depends on what you mean by scary. The one genre I will NEVER read belongs to horror- that level of scary is on the took extreme level

I am always amazed by people who non-stop read horror!

Why would people do that- non-stop horror almost sounds like too much

True, I don’t like horror—-but still can handle books with scary and gothic elements at a certain level

Welcome to my cosy corner of the internet dedicated to anything book-ish related. I am an avid reader, who is constantly battling a reading slump. On here, I share my chaotic, rambling thoughts of all of the books I have read and want to read, offering my unsolicited thoughts. Occasionally, I will share my own work whether that is my poetry or progress updates as I write my own Fantasy novels.
