I can’t quite believe that today is the last day of blogmas (and 2020)! I am so excited for the upcoming year – reading wise that is. It looks like my town will be entering 2021 in lockdown, but that’s fine: they’ll be just more time for reading.
I love setting reading goals. I know some people have issues with setting their GoodReads goals, but I love doing it. I see my GoodReads goal as a personal goal and I love having an aim. I also usually set it quite high, and end up lowering it later in the year. In 2020, I started off with a goal of reading 100 books, but half way through the year, I was no where near and in a reading slump, so I lowered it to 50. Then in November when I hit 50, I upped it to 60. In 2019, I started out with 50 books and then upped it to 60, then 75 and then 100 and in 2019 I ended up reading 101 books! I am constantly changing my goal until December.
In 2021, I think I will start off setting a goal of 100 books. I plan on having a much better reading year this year – though I thought the same in 2020! I am always flexible. I do however, want to set the goal of reading every month. in 2020, I had a couple of months in the middle where I didn’t read a single book. I think me going into a reading slump is inevitable, it happens to me every year, I would like to push through it and finish at least one book every month.
I also have some blogging goals! I was a little all over the place. I would blog constantly, then very rarely, then not at all. In October, I seemed to get back up to speed and started blogging a little more regularly. December has really shown me that I can blog constantly, and still find love for blogging and reading. If anything, blogging this often has inspired me even more! In the new year, I am going to try and post at least three times a week. I do want to continue posting regularly, and I think three time a week would ensure that I won’t burn myself out and would also allow me to schedule ahead and keep on top of things without getting too overwhelmed.
In February, it will be the one year anniversary of when I started blogging more seriously and it will also be the two year anniversary of my blog. I don’t really count the first year, if I am honest. I barely blogged and I am not proud of any of the content. This last year, however, I really feel like I have found my groove and can’t wait to continue this!
I also would love to review more books – I didn’t review too many books this year, but I started this blog as a place to talk about my feelings for the books I read and reviews are perfect for this! I have so many planned already for the first couple of months and I am so excited to be able to share this with you soon!
As for a TBR. I’ve spoken a lot recently about my plans but here is a very, very brief list of the books I plan to reread during 2021:
- The A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J Maas
- Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
- The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
- The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
- The Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman
and a brief list of the books I want to get off of my TBR:
- The Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo
- The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
- My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows
- Love is a Revolution by Renée Watson
That is just a brief overview of what I would lie to read in the next few months – most of the rereads are in preparation for the next book coming out in the series. You can check out the new releases I am most excited about here.
I am really looking forward to the New Year. It feels like a chance for a new, even though that is never the case. Though, I do always love starting back at book 0 at the start of the year. There’s so many things to look forward to in the next year, especially in the book community. 2021 is still going to be a difficult year – we are still in the pandemic – but if one thing that 2020 taught us is that books make it a whole lot easier to get through! Here’s to escaping through 2021 with fiction!
I am going to take a few days off, and then I will see you again in the new year! Happy New Year!

100 books is pretty ambitious! Best of luck!

It is! I love a challenge & it can always be lowered if I need to! Do you have any reading goals for 2021?

I’m going to put my Goodreads goal at 40 books. Otherwise I am just going to read for fun with no real goals.

Setting a goal is just a piece of fun, never too serious 🥰

I’m exactly the same as you with reading and blogging this year! Some months I’d read three books at the same time, others not a single book. My blogging has always been inconsistent but it’s always been a hobby, and I feel that as a hobby I can be more lenient with posting schedules and such like. Sometimes you’re just really not feeling writing a review, or any post for that matter and there’s nothing wrong with that. You’ve got some solid goals for 2021 here, and I’m hoping I can hit 50 books on Goodreads in 2021.
Best Wishes & Happy New Year,

It’s a hobby for me too and I never want to cross the line where it becomes too stressful that it’s not fun, but I do find myself more motivated when I’m blogging more! Definitely need to find the balance! Good luck with your reading goal🥰

Right now, I don’t have many books planned for 2021, but know of some of them:
1. Chronicles of Narnia
2. Hard Times
3. To Kill a Mockingbird
4. Nevermoor- only if the 3rd book ends up in paperback

I love what you said about constantly changing your goal right until the end of the year! I never really think of it that way and often end up feeling like I failed, which sucks. Simply changing the goal is a great idea.

Yeah, I find it really helpful to keep changing it! I always think of it as being a personal challenge and sometimes I need to adjust the goal based on my mood or by what is happening in everyday life. I think it makes me be a bit easier on myself!

That’s how I am with ACOTAR! I need to read Throne of Glass – I’ve had a bit of a weird experience with it. I’ve never been able to get past book 4 after three attempts. It’s been a few years now though so I think I’m going to try again this month!

I also set out my goal to be 100 books, as well. I’m really excited!
And I also really like your blog. I would love to see you talk about the books you are reading, what you liked, what you didn’t. What made you laugh, or scared, etc.
Happy new year! 🙂

Happy new year to you too! Yes! What’s your first read going to be?
Thank-you so much! This year, I’m hoping to have more discussion posts on books so I can share more of my thoughts. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

Yes, I would love that!
I’m going to read The Great Gatsby, because I wanted to read that in 2020, but I got too busy. But I would love to read since it takes place around 1920’s (the Roaring Twenties), so I figured it was the perfect book. And it isn’t too long, so I should be able to read it in no time, and it’ll keep me motivated to read more.
What about you, what’s going to be your first book? And what genres do you like to read?

I just read a review of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (on Shalini’s blog btw), what a coincidence to find it on your readlist now. Good luck with your challenge! I reached my 56 books this year but I had to make an extra effort in the end so this year I’m going for 52 books. Happy New Year!
