There are so many good books coming out in 2021 and I am so excited for so many of them. I am not going to get to every book that I want to read coming out next year – maybe I will do a more in-depth list at the start of every month? Also, as we are still so far away from the later months in 2021, there isn’t much news on them yet so they are going to be sparse or nonexistent at this stage! This is going to be a long list, so I am just going to get straight into this.

January

5th – You Have a Match by Emma Lord

When Abby signs up for a DNA service, it’s mainly to give her friend and secret love interest, Leo, a nudge. After all, she knows who she is already: Avid photographer. Injury-prone tree climber. Best friend to Leo and Connie…although ever since the B.E.I. (Big Embarrassing Incident) with Leo, things have been awkward on that front.

But she didn’t know she’s a younger sister.

When the DNA service reveals Abby has a secret sister, shimmery-haired Instagram star Savannah Tully, it’s hard to believe they’re from the same planet, never mind the same parents—especially considering Savannah, queen of green smoothies, is only a year and a half older than Abby herself.

The logical course of action? Meet up at summer camp (obviously) and figure out why Abby’s parents gave Savvy up for adoption. But there are complications: Savvy is a rigid rule-follower and total narc. Leo is the camp’s co-chef, putting Abby’s growing feelings for him on blast. And her parents have a secret that threatens to unravel everything.

But part of life is showing up, leaning in, and learning to fit all your awkward pieces together. Because sometimes, the hardest things can also be the best ones.

I haven’t read Tweet Cute by Emma Lord, so I’m not sure how great this authors writing style is, though I have heard good things. But, this synopsis has me completely hooked. I’ve never read a book about adoption or finding a lost sibling, and I think the addition of DNA tests, instagram stars and summer camp really modernise the idea and I can’t wait to read it.

5th – Lore by Alexandra Bracken

This one originally was not on my radar at all, but the more I hear about it, the more I want to read it.

12th – Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas

4th – Love is a Revolution by Renée Watson

When Nala Robertson reluctantly agrees to attend an open mic night for her cousin-sister-friend Imani’s birthday, she finds herself falling in instant love with Tye Brown, the MC. As Nala falls deeper into keeping up her lies and into love, she’ll learn all the ways love is hard, and how self-love is revolutionary.

In Love Is a Revolution, plus size girls are beautiful and get the attention of the hot guys, the popular girl clique is not shallow but has strong convictions and substance, and the ultimate love story is not only about romance but about how to show radical love to the people in your life, including to yourself.

This book sounds great. I always love to read about plus-size girls in young-adult, I love the representation. It may be a little nit-picky, but I think the second half of the synopsis makes it seem like only in the novel are plus size girls beautiful – I am hoping that it is just poorly worded and that the black girl and plus-size rep is executed nicely.

11th – Bad Habits by Flynn Meaney

Alex is a rebel from the tip of her purple fauxhawk to the toes of her biker boots. She’s tried everything she can think of to get expelled from her strict Catholic boarding school. Nothing has worked so far – but now, Alex has a new plan.

Tired of the sexism she sees in every corner of St Mary’s, Alex decides to stage the school’s first ever production of The Vagina Monologues. Which is going to be a challenge, as no one else at St Mary’s can even bear to say the word ‘vagina’ out loud . . .

I love the sound of this one. It is pitched as being perfect for fans of Derry Girls and Sex Education, and while I haven’t seen Derry Girls, I love Sex Education. I also feel that this book sounds quite similar to Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu and I love that book.

16th – A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas

It has been a long wait for this one, which I think many readers can agree about. A Court of Silver Flames is the fourth installment in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. It’s hard to think that A Court of Wings and Ruin came out nearly four years ago. We did have A Court of Frost and Starlight to tide us over, but that was almost three years ago now. I am planning on rereading this series before the new installment comes out and I am practically buzzing with excitement.

2nd – Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare

Is it any surprise that this one is on the list? If you have been around for a while, then no it definitely is not. Chain of Iron is the second installment in The Last Hours series. The Last Hours series is also the fourth series in the much larger umbrella Shadowhunter Chronicles series. I can’t wait to be back in the Shadowhunter world.

9th – Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales

Her advice, spot on. Her love life, way off.

13th – Malice by Heather Walter

This one just sounds so good! I love a retelling of a classic fairy tale and this one sounds so amazing. I can’t wait to read this one from the villains perspective.

29th – The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary

6th – One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

10th – Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee

6th – Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson

30th – Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

It’s too early to know much more information about this one – I just know that it is by the same author as Caraval and though I have still not finished that series, I am still interested in seeing what she comes up with next! I am still planning on reading Caraval and hope to do so before Once Upon a Broken Heart comes out.

November

2nd – Crescent City Book 2 by Sarah J Maas

It is still too early to know anything about this book – it doesn’t have a name yet, but the second book in the Crescent City Series by Sarah J Maas is rumored to be released early November. I still haven’t read the first book, but I will be getting the first book soon and I am really excited to read it!

So I know there is a couple of months missing – there just isn’t much information about them yet or the ones that have been announced don’t appeal to me at this stage. I feel like there’s so many I have missed off of this list! What books are you looking forward to next year?
