Resolutions Book Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Mikaela @ Mikaela Reads to take part in the Resolutions Book Tag! What better way to close the first week of 2021, than with a book tag all about resolutions.

Exercise More – name a book that has made you want to leap up out of your seat (for any reason)

I think the perfect one for this would be the ending of Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman – I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you have read it, you know what I am referring to! And if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend reading it.

Get Organised – a book with an exceptional plot

I want to pick The Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare for this one – in particular Queen of Air and Darkness. I think that there is so much going on and so many smaller plots all leading to the one big blog, but even the bigger plot has multiple plots and they’re leading in to the new series in a few year and — there’s just a lot!

Learn A New Skill – a book which taught you something

Without a doubt it is Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge. I need to reread this one at some point this year. It taught be so much about race in Britain that I simply didn’t know – particularly the historical elements and I was actually stunned by how little I knew before this book. Really looking forward to my reread.

Live Life To The Fullest – a book which inspired you

Whenever I read any of Charly Cox’s poetry collections (She Must Be Mad and Validate Me) I am always inspired to write poetry. I tend to be constantly writing poetry, just making notes on my phone, but it’s not very often I can sit down and dedicate an hour or so to writing poetry. Whenever I read Charly Cox’s work, I always find myself so motivated that I force the time.

Save more money / spend less money – the most expensive book you’ve bought and was it worth it?

Well, this comes at a bad time. I just spend £75 on the hardcover box set for the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. I am not smart. I have struggled with this series before. I just sold my paperback editions a few months ago because I couldn’t get passed book 4, but I’ve been in a Sarah J Maas mood lately and it’s been a few years since I’ve tried reading them, so thought I would give it another go. Did I need to buy the whole box set? No. Should I have spent £75 on a book series I am not sure I am going to enjoy? Definitely not. Are they stunning? Yes.

Spend More Time With Family and Friends – a character you would want to be best mates with

Yeva from Hunted by Meagan Spooner. I love her so much and I think she would be a great friend to have.

Travel More – a book with a location you’d love to visit

New York for sure and the most recent book that I read that’s set in New York City is Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.

Read More – a book you are desperate to read this year

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas is definitely high on the list right now – I’m currently in a book club where we are rereading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series and it’s just getting me more and more excited about the new book! I have a whole post talking about 2021 releases and you can read it here.
