The Reader Problems Book Tag

Hello! Today I have another book tag for you, and this week’s one is The Reader Problems Book Tag, which I saw on Shelves of Starlight. I feel like as a reader I have many problems – too many books on my TBR, not enough space on my book shelves, not enough money to buy all of the books that I want, very behind on book reviews, etc, etc. So I thought this one would be a fun one to do!

Mood! I am a huge mood reader and I let my mood decide every time. If I am not feeling a book, I don’t force myself to read it. I will just save that book for when I am in the mood for it.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?

I put it down. I can never focus enough to keep myself pushing through a book that I don’t like. I think that is why I don’t have many books that I rate very low, just because if I am not enjoying it, I put it down and then forget about it.

The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?

I do try to catch up – read more of the books I am wanting to rather than books I should. I have books that I don’t really feel like reading at the moment, but should be reviewing and that is just not doing it for me right now. So, I am reading more Christmas themed romances right now to try and catch up, because that is what I am in the mood for. I also will lower my reading goal throughout the year until the 1st December. 1st December is when it becomes a final goal and I either meet it or I don’t.

Everyone and their mothers love a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?

Book bloggers! I feel like there is always someone that will feel the same way about the book as me.

You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?

I would have to put the book down and save it for later. I would not want to be crying in public!

The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?

Yes – I pretty much always reread the previous books before the sequel. I forget a lot about books after I finish them, and I always find sequels more enjoyable when the previous books in the series are fresh in my mind.

You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?

I think all of my friends know I won’t lend them books because my books are in pristine conditions and they are fond of dog-earing and breaking spines. Big no no.

You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over the reading slump?

This one has been happening to me since September! I recently did a post about my tips to get out of a reading slump! To get out of my recent one, it was to read a bunch of romance books because they’re great fun and quick reads. I have also reread an old favourite, which is a great tip too!

There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?

I try to restrain myself… so maximum two. However, at the beginning of the year, I tend to preorder a bunch of books. I always joke with my dad that these books don’t count as me ordering new books because I ordered them so long ago.

After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read, how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?

A long time! Some I read straight away, some it takes me months and some have been on my shelves for years, but I have never gotten to them!

Let me know how you would answer some of these questions – or what problems you have as a reader!

  1. Fun tag and great answers! For me most of my book purchases sit on my shelf for ages before I read them 😂 It’s so bad, I’ll look at them and be like, “why did I even bother then?”. There’s the rare one that I’ll read straight away, which is usually a sequel where I’m dying to know what happens next. (Except that didn’t happen for ‘Rule of Wolves’ by Leigh Bardugo, still sitting there on the shelf…oops)
