Happy Halloween!
Today, my sisters and I are having our annual pumpkin carving contest. I am positive I will win (although I am always the worst, but that stays between us). We will also be decorating haunted gingerbread houses. I don’t know how or when or why this tradition started, but it is now one of my favourite things about this time of year and in particular this day! Here’s some of our previous years work and an adorable photo of our trusty bat dog.
I thought what better tag to post on Halloween than the Halloween book tag. Plus this is the final spooky tag of the month! I found this book tag on Way Too Fantasy and was originally created by Naomi the Book Lover on Youtube, however it appears as if they longer have their channel.
Carving Pumpkins – what book would you carve up and light on fire?
I feel like I always pick on this book for these kind of questions, but I haven’t had many books that I have really disliked so… The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I really did not get on with this book, and I did not like it.
Okay, coming back to this one a little later on. How could I forget my worst book from last year! That was Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. I gave that book 1 star which is very, very rare for me. There was just so many issues that I had with the story and the characters and then of course the underlying racism.
Trick or Treat – what character is a treat; what character is a trick?
I am going to cheat a little with this one and go for Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses – he is a trick and a treat! It just depends what book you’re reading!
Candy Corn – what book is always sweet?
I have so many comfort reads, so this is hard to choose just one! I have been finding myself thinking about this one a lot recently though, so it is probably time for me to reread it (even though I did at the beginning of this year…) and that is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. The characters are great and are always sweet and welcoming!
Ghosts – what character would you love to visit you as a ghost?
Jesse Blackthorn from Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. He is already a ghost, so I wouldn’t need to kill him off.
Dressing up in Costume – what character would you want to be for a day?
I actually have no idea who I would be. I have never really thought of dressing up as a character, expect for maybe a Shadowhunter one year? So I guess I will pick Clary Fairchild from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.
Blood and Gore – what book was so creepy that you had to take a break from it for awhile?
I’m not sure if I have ever had to take a break from a book because it was so creepy… I know I have had to take breaks from books because I have been crying too much. But never anything because it was so creepy!
I’m curious about that last question – have you ever had to take a break from a book because it was too creepy? I know I have definitely had to do that for films – I’ve had to turn off countless films because I was getting too scared to carry on watching it! Happy Halloween again – do you have any plans for the day?
“Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses – he is a trick and a treat! It just depends what book you’re reading!” — clever!
On the last question, I think Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn for me. Although it’s been a long time, I’m not sure 😅

Haha thank-you! I’ve never heard of Sharp Objects – did you enjoy it or was it too creepy that you had to put it down forever?
