Top Ten Amazing Books I Read in One Sitting

Hello! Today I was originally planning to do another Top Five Tuesday (hosted by Meeghan Reads) where the topic for this week is Top 5 sequels you would sell your soul for – however when it came to writing it, I just couldn’t think of any. I thought maybe I could put The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary or maybe Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron, but I couldn’t think past that. I think because I read a lot of series, it was hard to pick books that didn’t already have a sequel.

So – I did a U-turn and decided I would do a Top Ten Tuesday this week. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. This weeks topic is a freebie week! So, I’ve decided I would go back to a topic I missed which was books I read in one sitting. This year has actually been a really good year for me reading books in one sitting.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

It is not common for me to read the first book in a series in one sitting, but I could not put Divergent down. I was fascinated by all of the different factions and the testing process. I really loved this series, but the ending of the trilogy really let it down for me. Part of me wants to reread it, but part of me also doesn’t want to put myself through the final book again.

Frostbite by Richelle Mead

The Vampire Academy series was one that I loved so much! I read Frostbite (book 2) and Last Sacrifice (book 6) in one sitting! I’ve actually spoken recently about how I got so emotional over the third book that I didn’t read the fourth one for so long – I’ve actually found the statistics now. So, I finished book 3 on 4th August 2014 and then I finished it on 29th October 2014 – so it took me a long while considering the other books either took me a day or two!

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

I think this is the longest book I have ever read in one sitting. I remember it was release day and the postman was late that day, so I didn’t get the book until about 6pm. It was a school night, but I just sat down and read it and didn’t move until about 3am. It was one of those occasions where I closed the book and was really surprised that it was dark outside my window.

When the Curtain Falls by Carrie Hope Fletcher

When the Curtain Falls was one I absolutely adored. If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that I have problems focusing sometimes, and have been struggling to read books in a physical or e-book format for a while. When the Curtain Falls was the first physical book I was able to read for about a year at that point and I devoured it and got sucked into it.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I listened to the audiobook for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and cleaned the house. I ended up getting so lost in the story, I deep cleaned everything. I think I only had an hour left of the audiobook once I had finished. It was such a captivating story.

You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry

You and Me on Vacation is the most recent book on this list for me. I listened to the audiobook for this one while I had to make a long drive. I was really anxious that day, and just not feeling my best, and You and Me on Vacation was the perfect escape for me. It was such a brilliant read.

The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary

Another post that this book is included on? Couldn’t be. For those who follow me and keep up to date with every post – I am sorry I keep mentioning this book, but I can’t stop talking about it! I love this book so, so, so much! The day I read this, I actually finished Beth O’Leary’s second novel The Switch. I finished it off in the morning, then had some lunch, sat down and opened The Road Trip and then didn’t move until I finished the last page. It was a roller coaster.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

I actually read all three of these books in one sitting. Last year, I had a great beginning of the year. In January 2020, I read 8 books in 7 days and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before were the first three books to kick this off. It was such a fun trilogy, but I think because I read them so fast, I can’t really distinguish between the first three books.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

I don’t think I have ever cried so much at a novel. There was one particular point that has always stayed with me, that I think is about half way to three quarters of the way through the novel and from that point onwards, I did not stop crying. I remember crying to much that there were a couple of times I had to close the book to prevent my tears getting on the pages.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

I rarely talk about The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and that is mainly because I can’t really remember them. I do want to reread them soon, because I’d like to read the new instalment. Catching Fire, however, I do remember being my favourite out of the trilogy, and it is the one that I read in one sitting!

Let me know which books you read in one sitting!

I love the topic that you picked! I have managed to read all of Carrie Hope Fletchers books in one sitting, there is just something easy about them.

I honestly can’t remember the last book I read in one sitting unless it was a novella which doesn’t really count, after all anyone can manage that! I just find I need a break from reading, perversely if it’s a book I’m particularly enjoying because I want to put off reaching the end!

You might still like them, some people prefer the second and third one, honestly!

I don’t tend to read books in one sitting- but have done that with just one book. Even there are some books that are easily page turners

A Christmas Carol- that easy of a book and short enough. Read it in one sitting- only book that has happened in

I loved Catching Fire, I don’t think I read it in one sitting, but I definitely read it in less than a week.
