Halloween Creatures Book Tag

Hello! First of all, I’m really sorry that I disappeared for a week. Work has been a little bit hectic lately and I have ran out of scheduled/emergency posts! I am hoping to catch up on everything properly early next week, but just bare with me if posts get a little bit spotty for a while.

Anyway, today I have another spooky themed book tag. This one I first saw on Kate @ Blogging with Dragons. I can’t find the original creature of the tag, so if anyone knows please let me know! Let’s get into this tag.

Witch – a magical character or book

So many magical characters and books on my shelves… I will go with a book that I adored when I was an early teen which is Witch Hunt by Ruth Warburton.

Werewolf – the perfect book to read at night

Currently, I am rereading Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead and it is the perfect book to read at night, because the academy has a nocturnal timetable!

Frankenstein – a book that truly shocked you

Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman was the first book that came to mind! I was really surprised at how much I am enjoying the series so far, and the ending of Thunderhead completely blew me away. I still need to read the final book in the series!

The Devil – a dark, evil character

King Manford in Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron – he is a horrible character.

Grim Reaper – a character that never should have died

I don’t want to spoil too much for those who haven’t read it… but there is a specific death in Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas that I am not sure I am ever going to get over.

Zombie – a book that made you ‘hungry’ for more

Maybe not more of the same story (though I wouldn’t turn that down), but when I read When the Curtain Falls by Carrie Hope Fletcher last year, it really made me want more romance novels and helped me find a love for them.

Gargoyle – a character that you would protect at all cost

Hazel from Lovely War by Julie Berry – such a beautiful, loving, caring character from an absolutely stunning novel.

Vampire – a book that sucked the life out of you

Looking for Alaska by John Green – I did not enjoy this book at all, and it was one of those that felt like a chore to finish.

Ghost – a book that still haunts you

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead – I recently spoke about this book in my Ten Books I Read in One Sitting post and yeah I think it is safe to say that I am still haunted by the ending of this book.

Demon – a book that really scared you

I don’t think I have ever read a book that really scared me… or at least not one that is coming to mind. I don’t tend to read scary books – I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to that.

Skeleton – a character you have a bone to pick with

Julian in Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare. I understand why he acted the way he did he in that novel, but I still do not like how he handled it all.

Mummy – a book you would preserve throughout time

This is a tough one, because there are so many books that I love… however, I am going to go with my favourite of the year so far which is The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary.

Creepy Doll – a cover too scary to look at

I think the ’scariest’ cover I have right now is Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. But that isn’t even scary, it just has a skull on it and I actually think it is quite a beautiful cover.

Once again, I am not going to tag anyone but if you do the tag, let me know! Or if you don’t want to do the post in its entirety, let me know some of your answers in the comments!

I stopped reading this through Thunderhead (got distracted 😂) so really need to get back to that but really enjoyed what I read so far!
I liked Looking for Alaska back when I first read it 😄 but if I re-read it now I would be so.annoyed with it.

I’m probably going to need to reread the series before I start the third tbh! I feel like I have forgotten so much!
When I read Looking for Alaska, everyone seemed to love it and I just couldn’t understand why I hated it so much😂

I don’t believe I have read either of those. Do you recommend them?

Very much! Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is great if you like magic schools and a prophecy (very similar to HP). The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi (not whatever my keyboard made it 😄) is a great trilogy about a team and heists and there’s magic and descriptive language. Both series are really great!

The needing to re-read it before I finish the series, I mean, not like Looking For Alaska 😄
