Top 5 Anticipated Books for the Rest of 2021

Hello! Today I am taking part in another Top 5 Tuesday. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads. This week’s topic is top 5 anticipated books for the rest of 2021.

This year has been a great year for me and 2021 releases. I tend to struggle to read books when they first come out. Last year I probably only read two or three 2020 books. I have tried to be better this year – I have definitely been better at hauling 2021 books, but still need to improve when it comes to reading them!

2021 has been such a good year for books, and there are so many more to come. I can already feel like this is going to be a struggle to pick just five. I think I will go though the preorders that I have left for the rest of the year!

This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron

I know I just said I was going to go through my preorders, but I am kicking this off with one that I haven’t preordered yet. I have the hardcover version of Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron (their debut novel), so I wanted to get this book in the hardcover too so they look better and more consistent on my shelf. However, Waterstones don’t do this edition, so I will be buying it off of Blackwell’s once it releases on 29th June.

Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson

Leah Johnson became an auto buy author for me after I read their debut novel You Should See Me in a Crown. I read it late last year and absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to read Rise to the Sun and hopefully love it just as much as their other book when it comes out on 1st July.

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

On 30th September, Stephanie Garber’s newest book comes out! I loved Caraval, though I do still need to finish that series. I am hoping to finish it before I begin her newest series.

I am a sucker for beautiful covers and the UK version of Once Upon a Broken Heart is not one of them. When the US cover got announced I was so excited because it is so beautiful. I preordered a signed edition from Waterstones and then I recently just saw the UK edition and … If I hadn’t preordered a signed edition I probably would have cancelled my preorder and got the US version. But oh well! Maybe I will like it more in person.

Gilded by Marissa Meyer

Marisa Meyer’s newest retelling comes out on 2nd November. I am yet to read The Lunar Chronicles, however I have read Heartless and it is one of my favourite books of all time. I cannot wait for another standalone retelling by Meyer and this one is Rumpelstiltskin. I’ve never read a Rumpelstiltskin retelling so I am so excited to get my hands on this!

A Psalm of Storms and Silence by Roseanne A. Brown

And lastly, the next instalment in the A Song of Wraiths and Ruin series comes out 11th November. I feel like I have been talking non-stop about this book ever since I read the first book. I cannot wait to indulge in Roseanne A. Brown’s beautiful writing style again later this year.

There are so many other books that could have made this list. I am so excited for all of the releases coming out this year.

By the way, if you love SS, I would even recommend Uprooted- both are by the same author

I’m Kira

Welcome to my cosy corner of the internet dedicated to anything book-ish related. I am an avid reader, who is constantly battling a reading slump. On here, I share my chaotic, rambling thoughts of all of the books I have read and want to read, offering my unsolicited thoughts. Occasionally, I will share my own work whether that is my poetry or progress updates as I write my own Fantasy novels.
