August 2021 Wrap Up

Hello! Today I am sharing the books that I read in August! I didn’t get to as many books as I had hoped, but I still managed to read six books which is a great amount. I have also been planning content for the rest of the year and that has been really exciting for me! I am feeling organised and inspired and ready to take on the rest of the year.

The last few months of the year are always my favourite. I love the colder months, getting to layer clothing and wrap up warm. It is my birthday month, then it is Halloween and Christmas and I just love this time of year. Excuse me while I dig out all of my cosy jumpers.

Enough about that, and into the books I read in August.

An Offer From a Gentleman; Romancing Mister Bridgerton & To Sir Phillip, With Love by Julia Quinn

The majority of my August reading, was continuing with the Bridgertons series! I don’t actually have much to say on each individual book, other than I really like escaping to that time period with the Bridgerton siblings. I am still really enjoying the series, though I think because I read so many of them back to back, I was definitely needing a break from them. I am currently reading When he Was Wicked which is book 6 of the series. But I am taking my time with this one and reading other books alongside it so it is taking me a long time to get through it.

You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry

I adored this novel. I had to make a difficult, long car journey and I listened to the audiobook whilst driving and I laughed the whole way through it. It was such a wonderful read. My review is coming out sometime next week, so I will save the majority of my thoughts for you until then, but I loved it so much. It was such a perfect book to finish summer with.

The Meeting Point by Olivia Lara

I ended up enjoying this book, but it did take me a while to get there! It was a slow, slow, slow beginning for me despite the fast paced writing style. I was given an e-arc of The Meeting Point by Olivia Lara by the wonderful people at @The_WriteReads and @Aria_Fiction for The Ultimate Blog Tour. You can read my review: here!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

I then continued my reread of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare! I reread the first four books in the series in March and I am only just getting back round to continuing the series! I always love my rereads of this series. I find them such a comforting read, and I just love returning to the chaotic Shadowhunter world and reuniting with all of the characters.

I am very, very behind on my reading goal and the panic is slightly starting to set it. I have just four months to read 47 books. That is pretty much 12 books per month. I am not sure if I am going to be able to get to 100 books this year, but I also don’t want to lower my reading goal just yet… Maybe I should grab a couple of graphic novels or poetry collections to get the number up. We will see.

What a great wrap up! You and Me on Vacation is my next audiobook to listen to once I finish Kafka On The Shore by Murakami – I’m so glad you enjoyed it as I’m going to need that laugh-factor before the nights come rolling in and summer well and truly disappears! Happy reading for September! ☺️

Good luck with your reading goal, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself! Six books is a great total for the month, and I’m glad you mostly enjoyed them. Have a lovely September, Kira ❤

Welcome to my cosy corner of the internet dedicated to anything book-ish related. I am an avid reader, who is constantly battling a reading slump. On here, I share my chaotic, rambling thoughts of all of the books I have read and want to read, offering my unsolicited thoughts. Occasionally, I will share my own work whether that is my poetry or progress updates as I write my own Fantasy novels.
