Top Five Tuesday: New Authors

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads. Todays topic is new authors.

There are so many new authors for me this year. I have chosen my favourites – I believe only one of these authors on this list have made a debut this year, the rest are just new to me!

Leah Johnson

Leah Johnson

I read Leah Johnson’s debut novel You Should See Me in a Crown last month and I absolutely loved it. I can already tell she is going to be one of the authors that I keep up to date with. I’m already really excited for her next novel Rise to the Sun that is set to be published in July 2021.

Carrie Hope Fletcher

Carrie Hope Fletcher

I have been raving about Carrie Hope Fletcher for months now. Her books just make me feel so happy and they have been a great distraction from the real world for me. I’m hoping to read In the Time we Lost soon as it seems like the perfect wintery read and with this new upcoming lockdown, I could definitely use the distraction.

Beth O’Leary

Beth O'Leary

Beth O’Leary is another new writer to me! I read Flat Share earlier on in this year and I was suprised at how much I enjoyed the book and at how much depth was actually in the plot. I was expecting a straightforward, light romance but it was such a complicated but lovely read. I haven’t read The Switch yet but want to get to it soon!

Brandy Colbert

Brandy Colbert

I recently read Little & Lion and again, was suprised at how much I enjoyed it! I am really interested in her newest book The Voting Booth which is the one I will probably pick up next by Colbert. She has quite a few books though, so I hope to work my way through them all!

Alison Weir

Alison Weir

I’m currently reading Six Tudor Queens: Katherine of Aragon, The True Queen by Alison Weir and I am loving it. I have been into historical fiction lately and I am adoring her style of writing and the historical accuracy within the fiction piece. I’m already really looking forward to the rest of the books in the series.

Have you read any books by these authors?

No- however, I still found some new authors this year.

    1. V.E Schwab- loved Shades of Magic. My favorite series of this year.
    2. Thomas Hardy- hope to read more
    3. Phillip Pullman- enjoyed His Dark Materials

I read other authors this year, but none of them were new to me.

I really need to read some of V.E Schwab’s work! I see her name everywhere and her new one especially really intrigued me.

This is my overall opinion of V.E. Schawb’s series:

I’m Kira

Welcome to my cosy corner of the internet dedicated to anything book-ish related. I am an avid reader, who is constantly battling a reading slump. On here, I share my chaotic, rambling thoughts of all of the books I have read and want to read, offering my unsolicited thoughts. Occasionally, I will share my own work whether that is my poetry or progress updates as I write my own Fantasy novels.
