What I Read Between March and August

Hello! I have not been reading very much this year, but I have been updating the blog even less. Today I wanted to get up to date with all of the books that I read between March and August so there’s at least a record of all of the books I’ve read throughout the year on the blog. There aren’t too many books on this list, as I have done most of my reading for this year in January, and I actually didn’t read a single book in March or May, but let’s get into this.

If you wanted to catch up on my whole year, you can read my January Wrap Up: here, and my February Wrap Up: here.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

In April, I decided I wanted to get a bunch of romance books of my TBR! It didn’t work… but I did manage to get one romance novel off my TBR and that was Book Lovers. I loved the small town, enemies to lovers romance. There was more than just the romance, but also the sibling relationship, and the battles between where everyone wanted to live and settle down. It was such an enjoyable read and I’m so glad I finally got round to reading this!

Beach Read by Emily Henry

In June, I read another Emily Henry book and I did prefer this one to Book Lovers, although I think You and Me on Vacation will always be my favourite of Emily Henry’s! It was no surprise that this was the book that made Emily Henry a focus point in the romance book world. Augustus and January were both amazing characters and I feel like I can return to them time and time again.

The Setup by Lizzy Dent

In July, I picked up a book that I was supposed to get to last year, but I didn’t get round to it! I originally got this one, because it was on a list of books focused around travel, and whilst I enjoyed this book, it just wasn’t focused around travel. There was a tiny slither of travel right at the beginning of the novel, but other than that it is set in Broadgate (an English seaside town). This was a really funny novel though and I highly recommend if you want a fun romance with a very relatable main character.

Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare

Also in July, I read the final book in The Last Hours series. This was the latest book in the Shadowhunter Chronicles and it was such an amazing conclusion! Every instalment in the Shadowhunter Chronicles is better than the last and I cannot wait for the new, and last series, to come out! Although, I really don’t want it to end!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

I only read one book in August, and that was a reread of Throne of Glass! I was hoping to do a reread of the full series to kick me back into reading, but I didn’t get very far into Crown of Midnight. The good thing with this being a reread, is that I can just jump back into the series when I am feeling a bit of a lull again. I actually have Discussion Posts on the first four novels of the series, and my Throne of Glass post is my best performing post of the year, despite it being two years old! If you wanted to read it, you can do so: here.

Okay, so we are all caught up now! Regular wrap up posts will now continue once September is over!

I’m Kira

Welcome to my cosy corner of the internet dedicated to anything book-ish related. I am an avid reader, who is constantly battling a reading slump. On here, I share my chaotic, rambling thoughts of all of the books I have read and want to read, offering my unsolicited thoughts. Occasionally, I will share my own work whether that is my poetry or progress updates as I write my own Fantasy novels.
