November 2022 Wrap Up

Hello! Welcome back to blogmas day 2!

It is time for the last monthly wrap up of the year!! I still cannot believe it is already December. This time of year is always my favourite. I know a lot of people don’t like the shorter days and the weather turning colder, but I love it. It always feels so cosy and I get to fully lean into the cosiness of it all. I especially love the lead up to Christmas and getting to plan all of the Christmas things and crafty bits and activities. I have so much planned this year and I am even more excited than normal for Christmas. This November, I already started doing a few Christmassy bits and I am so happy it is acceptable now to scream about Christmas as it is December!

Let’s stop rambling about Christmas (although, Blogmas is the perfect opportunity to do that), and let’s wrap up November. Last month was a great month for me reading wise. I had my second best reading month (coming short to April where I read 7 books), and I read 4 books this month! I know that doesn’t necessarily feel like a lot, but I feel like I am finally getting back into the swing of things and I am actually enjoying reading at the moment, which has been a massive thing that I have struggled with this year. I am hoping it continues!

Reading Statistics:

    • Audiobook: 2

    • Dystopian: 1
    • Graphic Novel: 2

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I finally did it! I finally got to The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer! I have been wanting to read this series for years but I just have never gotten round to it. Part of me was a little scared, because I am not too huge of a fan of robots or dystopian novels or anything sci-fi really, and this series is a mixture of all three. I was pleasantly surprised by it! I could see the plot twist coming from a mile away, however, if I had read this when I was 15/16 (at the intended age) it would have completely blown my mind. It is one of those that I kind of wish I had given in to peer pressure back then and read them. Despite this though, I still thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series and I cannot wait to continue on with the rest of the series.

A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone

My first Christmas book of the year!! This one was a wild read, and one that was completely unexpected for me. My review for this book is actually going up tomorrow, so you will have to wait until then to hear all of my thoughts on this one…

Heartstopper: Volume 1 & 2 by Alice Oseman

I then reread Volumes 1 & 2 of the Heartstopper series. I still have not read Volume 4, and have been wanting to reread the series in order to remind myself of the story! I forgot how much I adored this series. It is so cute, and heart warming, and I know the story means a lot to people. I have a review of Volume 1 from a few years ago, which you can check out here if you want: Review: Heartstopper Volume 1.

Blogging has been very up and down for me this year, and November was no different (although this has to change during December for blogmas!). I did manage to get a couple of posts up, and they were:

NaNoWriMo 2022: Week One Update

End of the Year Book Tag: 2022 Edition

Now, onto the writing update for November…

This writing update is not as great as I had hoped. November is NaNoWriMo Month and I had started it! My Week One Update was so hopeful and I was so proud after being so productive that week! However, it did not continue. I was upset, and mad, with myself to begin with, but it is one of those things that I have come to terms with. It is hard to balance a full time job, a social life and writing 50,000 words in a month. In the new year, I do want to establish a better routine and to work on it. This month showed me there is potential for this to be successful for me, but it does need work!

I finished NaNoWriMo on 13,150 words. It was better than last years 11k, so at least I did better than last! I also wrote 3 poems in November, totalling 183 words. Bringing my total words in November to 13,333 words.

My November was both disappointing and amazing. Disappointing purely because I could not do NaNoWriMo the way I had hoped and couldn’t dedicate as much time to is as planned. But amazing because I finally feel like I am getting a little bit back on track with everything else. I am hoping that I can settle into this and continue with this in December, and furthermore into the new year.

Let me know how your November went!
