March 2022 Wrap Up

Hello! Long-time no see!

No, you have not suddenly travelled back in time to March. And no, I have not made a typo! I have been taking a little bit of a break from blogging (and reading and writing if I am being completely honest). I know I have said that a lot this year, but things truly got off to a rough start for me this year. Now that we are halfway through, can I get back on track? We will see. Although I took my break during March and I am only just coming back, I still wanted to backtrack a little bit and post what I read in March. I am also going to post my April wrap up next week, and I will be posting my May wrap up too, however, I did not read anything during May, so I will only be posting my writing update for that month.

For now, let’s get into my March wrap up.

An Offer From a Gentlemen & When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn

Last year I started reading the Bridgerton series but got halfway into book 6 before I decided that I couldn’t do it anymore. I love the book series, but they are the same story repeated over and over again. I think that is partly why I love them so much: I know what to expect and what I expect I get. And then, after watching Season 2 of Bridgerton this year, I got the Bridgerton bug again. And, out of the books that I read last year, book three An Offer From a Gentleman was my favourite and I wanted to revisit the story! I was also guessing (it hadn’t been announced yet) that they weren’t going to go in order of the books on the TV show, and that made me a little sad for Benedict. I loved the story again the second time around.

After finishing An Offer From a Gentleman, I decided that I would pick up where I left off with the other books in the series. I never finished When He Was Wicked last year, and I had forgotten what I did read, so I ended up scrapping what I had read and starting fresh. I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I was going to! Because I stopped halfway through it last year, I had it in my head that I didn’t enjoy the story. But I think reading what is essentially the same story repeated over again had just put me into a bit of a reading slump. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed the novel! This one is a little different from the others because the Bridgerton sibling (Francesca) has been married before so there is none of this ‘I don’t know what a man is’ sort of energy. And she was a little bit more disconnected from the rest of her family: she lives further away in Scotland, but she also is just a little more private than the rest of the Bridgertons. It was a refreshing take and I really enjoyed the story.

Again, the Bridgerton series isn’t full of much substance but its entertainment value outshines that!

March was the month that I started blogging again, but also stopped blogging again! I have been trying to get out of this slump for some time. I hope this time that I can come back fully and this isn’t going to be a repeat of the same situation! But these are the posts that I got up in March:

Five Books I Want to Reread in 2022

Books that Have Shaped Me

February 2022 Wrap Up

Books with my Favourite Tropes

The Reread Diaries: Frostbite

Life in Books Book Tag

Books on my Spring TBR

And finally, a little update on my writing.

March Writing Tracker

March was a quieter month for my writing. I know it was a while ago, but you might remember in February I set myself the challenge of writing at least one poem every single day of the month. This accidentally carried into March and for the first six days I wrote a poem every day! However, as you can imagine, I eventually ran out of a bit of fuel and took a bit of a break. I did continue writing in March, but it was just a little less. In total, I wrote 14 poems which came to 719 words. I also briefly (very briefly…) returned to my Rapunzel project and got another 525 words written.

So, in total, in the month of March, I wrote 1,244 words.

Whilst I was away, I hit 1,000 followers on this blog! It is a milestone that I never thought I was going to reach so thank-you so much for all of the love and support for this blog – even when I am not consistently posting!

Thank-you for sticking around.
