Hello! I am finally, finally, finally out of my reading slump! I know I said this in my October Wrap Up, but I soon nose dived right back into a reading slump. I was getting so frustrated. Especially with the end of the year closing in, and I still have a way to go to get to my reading goal. Even my tips to combat a reading slump weren’t helping. So, eventually, I just had to wait it out. And the last week and a half of November I read seven books! It feels so good to have had a good reading month finally. So, let’s get into the books I read last month.
Frostbite by Richelle Mead
The first book that I read was Frostbite by Richelle Mead, continuing my reread of The Vampire Academy. I will be having another reread diary post go up about Frostbite, however it won’t be until the new year because I want to focus on the Christmas and New Year book posts this month! But in January, I will have my post up about Frostbite! If you want to read my previous ReRead Diary entry for The Vampire Academy you can read it: Here.
Wrapped Up in You by Talia Hibbert
Another Talia Hibbert book for 2021! I did not know that Talia Hibbert had a Christmas short story, so as soon as I found it, you bet that I instantly started reading it. I loved it so much. Talia Hibbert is such a great story teller and I can’t wait to read more of her novels. I will have my review of this short story up early next week, so look out for that!
Sixteen Scandals by Sophie Jordan
Next, I read Sixteen Scandals, which has been on my TBR for well over a year. I was given access to an e-arc by the publisher, but I never got round to it until now! It feels so good to have this one off of my TBR. I was able to add my review to NetGalley too, and get my percentage up a tiny bit (it is awful right now). You can check out my review and full thoughts: here.
The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox
I may have found my favourite Christmas book… I loved this one so much. It is about two twin sisters who are bakers and circumstances mean they have to swap places for a week or so. I loved the Parent Trap growing up, so reading the Christmas Adult Romance version of it was so much fun. I can’t recommend it enough. You can read my review: here.
In an Absent Dream, Come Tumbling Down & Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan McGuire
I finally caught up with the Wayward Children series! I honestly thought this was a series that I was always going to be behind on, but I have caught up! I am up to date with the series, and I am really looking forward to the next book to come out in January. I think out of the three I read this month, Come Tumbling Down was my favourite. I think I just love Jack and Jill because Down Among the Sticks and Bones is my favourite in the series so far. I love their world, The Moors, and seeing the other characters from Eleanor West’s School for Wayward Children break the one rule (‘No Quests’) to visit the Moors was a really fun experience.
I spoke briefly in my update yesterday, but I am sticking with my reading goal of 75 books. This means that I need to read ten more books before the end of the year, which I think is doable! I have so many books on my TBR, and in a couple of days time I am going to be talking about some of the Christmas books that are on my TBR this year! I also want to reread some old favourites, so I think this is achievable!
Last month, I officially read more than I read last year! Last year I read 61 books, and I am currently at 65 books this year. This is so exciting! I still am no where near my 2019 books read which was 101, but I am reading much longer books this year. In 2019, I was reading a lot of poetry which are just naturally shorter and quicker reads for me, so it is understandable that I was reading more. Plus, this year, I have read a lot more pages so far than I think I ever have which is a bonus too!
How was your November and are you on track to reach your end of the year goal if you haven’t reached it already?
Lovethis wrap up! My (irregular) book club are reading The Holiday Swap this month and I’m looking forward to it!
