Top 5 Tuesday

Top 5 Creepy Covers

Hello! Today I am taking part in another Top 5 Tuesday. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads. Today’s topic is sticking with the spooky, Halloweeny theme with creepy covers. I love book covers, and will buy books just because of their cover and similarly will not buy a book because of its cover too. I know that you are not meant to judge a book by its cover but I cannot help it! I love covers so much. So all of these that I am going to talk about I think are all beautiful, but have creepy vibes!

Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco

Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked, #2)

Kicking this off with one of my favourite creepy covers and that is Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco. There is something about skulls that will always creep me out, however I think they can be made so beautiful like this case. The black and the light blue really compliment each other and create such a stunningly eerie atmosphere. I can’t wait to read this series.

Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke

Inkdeath (Inkworld, #3)

Sticking with the skulls, this cover used to creep me out so much when I first bought it, probably ten years ago now. But at the same time I thought it was so beautiful because of the nature spilling out from the skull, and because of all of the little images in the skull. I think this is one that looks so much more in person rather than this photo I grabbed from Goodreads.

Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire

Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Wayward Children, #2)

I have only read three of the books in The Wayward Children series, and Down Among the Sticks and Bones is definitely the creepiest one for me so far! And the cover reflects that perfectly. It is such a desolate landscape and that alone gives me the creeps.

White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson

White Smoke

I am so excited for this book, I still haven’t managed to read it yet, but I was fortunate enough to receive and arc copy last month. I cannot wait to read it – maybe it will be one that I read on Halloween this year! There is something so creepy and eerie about the purple smoke and the haunted house being kind of hidden by the smoke. It is so beautiful and it might be my favourite on this list.

All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman

All of Us Villains (All of Us Villains, #1)

This is the only one on this list that I don’t actually own, but I could not resist including it on this list. It is something about the hands and the face standing out bright red against the black background and the white text that is so creepy to me!

Let me know if you find any of these covers creepy too! And what is one book on your shelf with a creepy cover?

      1. I was supposed to read them in a Buddy read, but because I always fall behind, I decided to give myself a head start. I ready KOTW in 24, and 18 hours after that I had finished KOTC as well… oops?!! 😂
