Hello! If you have been here for a while, you may recall how ridiculous my TBR is. I have so many books on it – it’s in the hundreds. I have seen so many bloggers recently talk about their five star predictions, so I thought I would go over some of the books that are at the top of my pile for me to read. These are the books that I am hoping to read by the end of the year that I predict are all five star reads!
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
I should have read this ages ago, but I am definitely late to the party with this one. I finally have a copy though, so I am hoping to get to it soon! This book sounds like the perfect autumn read and is a dark academia book which again is perfect for this time of year.
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
I should have read this in September, I know. But I didn’t get to it. I would love to read this one before spooky month is over, but I am not sure if I will be able to. I have heard such good things about this book, and from what I have heard it is a really strong debut.
Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim
Confession – this one I did only buy because of the cover. However, since getting it home and actually looking at the synopsis, I am so happy that I picked it up on a whim. I have seen nothing but good things about this book, and the bookseller in Waterstones even said how much they had enjoyed it! I think I am also going to adore this book and have it rating high!
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
This is probably the most loved book in the book community right now, and I can’t believe I still haven’t read it. Oh well! It is a Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai. I am hoping to get to it before the end of the year (as well as the sequel) and I really think that it is going to be a five star read for me.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
The idea around this story stuns me everything I look at it. The main character, Addie, has lived for 300 years and is forgotten by everyone she meet, until one day someone remembers her name. It sounds like such an amazing book, and I really, really need to get this one off of my TBR!
Malice by Heather Walter
This book was one of my most anticipated releases for 2021… and I am embarrassed to say that I still have not read it despite it coming out in April. Malice is a Sleeping Beauty retelling but told from the villains perspective and it just sounds incredible. I believe it has a LGBTQ+ main character which I don’t think is common in retellings either. I haven’t heard anyone say anything bad about this book and I am hoping that I also have the same thoughts.
Wings of Ebony by J. Elle
This is one that I feel like I don’t hear too much about. I know there was an issue with stock here in the UK when it was first released – it came out in March but copies didn’t arrive until June/July. I think that impacted the release of this debut, because I don’t see anything about this book. However, it sounds incredible. The main character is half-god and half-human. I’m going to leave the official synopsis below, because I feel like my rambling cannot do justice to how good this one sounds:

Rue’s taken from her neighborhood by the father she never knew, forced to leave her little sister behind, and whisked away to Ghizon—a hidden island of magic wielders.

Sherwood by Meagan Spooner
I read Hunted by Meagan Spooner last year and absolutely loved it. I have been itching to get to Sherwood ever since but haven’t gotten round to it yet. But I think it is a story that I am going to love and I can’t wait to read it.
All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace
When I was drafting my own novel with mermaids for Camp NaNo April, I was trying to find books with mermaids in them and this came up so many times. I loved the idea of this one, so I bought both of the books in the duology. I actually did start this book at the time, but I only got three chapters in before I got distracted by something. What I did read though, I loved. So I think this one is also going to be a five star read for me!
