Hello! It has been a while since I gushed about book covers, and so I thought I would join this weeks Top 5 Tuesday where the topic is People on the Cover. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.
I love book covers. I have been known for paying more for a book just to get the pretty cover. I will wait and wait and wait to read a book until I can get my hands on the cover I prefer. So, naturally I have ended up with some beautiful books. Surprisingly, a lot of these books have people on them. I am not sure why the majority of my books seem to have people on the cover, but it seems to be a huge selling point! Anyway, let’s get into this.
Wings of Ebony by J. Elle
I love pinks and purples, especially on book covers, and particularly against dark backgrounds. But I love how it is used to centre the model on the cover. The peekaboo pose from beneath the hood, and the stance just screams that she is a bad ass. I also love the use of gold on this cover too and how it ties it all together. It makes me so excited to read this book soon!
The Selection by Kiera Cass
I don’t think I could do a post about covers with people on them and not mention a book from The Selection Series. I think these books are notorious for their covers of the girls in the dresses. When I first saw this weeks topic, I immediately thought of this series. There was a point in YA history where these style covers were iconic and for me The Selection has always been the one to stand out.
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas
Detail, detail, detail. I think the amount of detail crammed onto this cover is incredible. It really sets this series apart from Sarah J Maas’ other book series. I really love how the illustration of the main character is built up of all these little designs and intricate details. It makes me even more excited to see what the second book in the series will look like.
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown
Another beautiful cover. I am not normally a huge fan of really dark covers, however I make an exception for this one. I love how the dark green stands out against the dark background – and the model for this cover is absolutely stunning.
Lovely War by Julie Berry
Lovely War might be one of my favourite covers. I think it is such a stunning book. I am a sucker for that shade of pink as well, then with the Eiffel Tower and the war planes as well as the ongoing war in the back ground – beautiful cover.
I could honestly gush and gush and gush about how beautiful these covers are. I could also probably list 20 or 50 more, but I think for now it is probably best that I am limited to just 5!
What are some of your favourite covers with people on?
