Five Hyped Books on my TBR

Hello! Today I am taking part in another Top 5 Tuesday. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.

Last week I spoke about the five hyped books that I love, and this week is five hyped books on my TBR! I have so many books that are on my TBR – most of them hyped ones to be honest. For this post, I am going to pick five that are actually on my book shelf rather than ones that are on my radar.

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

Right when this book came out it was very hyped up, although I do see less of it now despite it only coming out last November-ish – this could just be me though. I am still really excited about this book. I have never read Kerri Maniscalco, but I do really want to read her Stalking Jack the Ripper series. From my understanding, Kingdom of the Wicked is about witches who are trying to live amongst humans. I never really know much about the books before I read them, and with fantasy in general I like to know as little as possible before diving in. I am really looking forward to it!

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

I actually did start this one right before I went into a reading slump in March. I think what caused me to go put this one down is that I was trying to balance too many books and writing all at once. I remember from what I did read that it was really good, but when I return to it, I am going to start from the beginning to really get into the story. I see this book everywhere and when I am back in a fantasy mode, I imagine this will be one of the first books I gravitate towards because I always seem to want urban fantasy books right after I have been in a contemporary mood.

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

How many times can I put this book on my TBR? Even I am getting sick of me talking about how much I want to read this and need to get to it soon! I fear if I stop talking about it though, I will probably allow myself to keep choosing other books over this one. However, I do really, really want to get to it soon! I also bought The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and last month I did read Malibu Rising, so I feel like I have a bit more motivation to get to it soon!

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

Speaking of books that have been on my TBR for so long… I suppose not this one, but I have had Red, White and Royal Blue on my TBR for too long. If you’ve been on my blog for a while, you will know that I have started that book before and put it down because I wanted to read a different book. I think that I will probably get to Casey McQuiston’s new release, One Last Stop, first. I don’t ever really go into books knowing much about them, but from my understanding there is a little historical element to this book. I could be completely off base, but nevertheless I am still excited for this book and I know it is loved by so many people.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

I am so intimidated by this book. V.E. Schwab as an author intimidates me. Her books are so well loved and adored by so many people, and she has quite an extensive backlog of books. I do want to read her Shades of Magic series, but I only own The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue currently. I thought it would be the best to start with because it is a standalone, and I believe it has a historical element and I love historical elements in fantasy.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend you read it, it’s slow paced but worth it, heartbreaking and equally beautiful and lyrical. 🥺✨
I’ve read almost everything by the author and I think it’s her best work yet 😍

Welcome to my cosy corner of the internet dedicated to anything book-ish related. I am an avid reader, who is constantly battling a reading slump. On here, I share my chaotic, rambling thoughts of all of the books I have read and want to read, offering my unsolicited thoughts. Occasionally, I will share my own work whether that is my poetry or progress updates as I write my own Fantasy novels.
