Hello! I have another Top 5 Tuesday post today. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday’s topic is books I wish I could read again for the first time. I am a massive rereader and I love rereading books. I think rereading adds to my experience as a reader, not takes away from my reading experience, so I am actually struggling with thinking of books for this list. I also have a terrible memory, so often when I reread books after a few years, I have forgotten so much it is almost like I am reading it again for the first time!
I normally go into these posts with some sort of idea for what I am going to do, but this time I am just going to write it and see where we end up! Wish me luck.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas is definitely a book I wish I could read again for the first time, though I have no issue rereading it over and over again. I think the first book in the series though, I always rush and focus in more on certain areas because I know what is to come in the next books and how much changes between book one and book two. I do love rereading it though and finding all of the clues for what is about to happen, but there are times I wish I could read it again for the first time.
Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern
Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern is also a book that I would want to read again for the first time! I haven’t read this one since I finished reading it just as the film adaptation (Love, Rosie) came out. I remember being completely sucked into the book. I had never read a book in epistolary format before, and haven’t read one since, but I found it just made me get completely lost in the novel. The novel also destroyed me. I got way too emotionally invested in those characters, so it would be a great one to read for the first time and fall in love with the characters all over again.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart definitely belongs on this list. I don’t think I could reread this book. I was lucky enough to go into this book with not much knowledge of the plot and the hype hadn’t really hit me at that point; so I wasn’t spoiled at all which I know a lot of people have been. It is one I would love to be given the opportunity to read it again for the first time and be dragged through that rollercoaster all over again.
The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead is one of my favourite series that I have actually never reread. I am terrified to just in case I no longer like it and it is a story that I loved whilst younger and then grew out of. However, book three destroyed me. Whenever I think about this series, the first time that comes to mind is book three and that ending. I would love to read this whole series for the first time – just so I can read the first two books in peace and be knocked over again by that third book.
I am going to leave it at just these four! I really, really struggled with this one! As I am someone who loves rereading books and sometimes I like the reread even more than the first read, so this was really hard. With my favourite books that I am rereading, I get just as excited the second, fourth, eighth time I read them and in more cases than not, I get more excited on the reread. Probably a pitiful attempt at this, but I just love a reread!
