The Christmas Song Book Tag

Hello! Today’s bookmas post is The Christmas Song Book Tag. This is an original book tag made by Hailey in Bookland on over on YouTube. I really struggled with last weeks book tag, so I am hoping that I am going to have better luck with this one!

1. “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch”

Name a villainous character you couldn’t help but love.

I’m not sure if this counts… but Catherine from Heartless by Marissa Meyer. Heartless is an origin story for The Queen of Hearts from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland; so eventually she is the villain. But, she kind of isn’t in Heartless. But, shhhhh.

2. “All I Want for Christmas is You”

Which book to you most hope to see under your Christmas tree?

This one comes at me at a weird time, because I’m currently trying to find which ones I’d like my mum to get. Rather than guessing, she always asks me which ones she should get me and I am really struggling this year to narrow it down! I think the only one I have managed to think of for certain is All This Time by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott.

3. “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”

Name a character that overcomes major obstacles and learns to believe in themselves.

I think I am going to go with Feyre for this one. In the second installment of A Court of Thorns and Roses series, A Court of Mist and Fury, we really see Feyre dealing with PTSD and depression, and you get to see her lose herself and then throughout the novel she gradually starts to believe in herself again.

4. “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”

a) Which character do you think would be on the top of the naughty list?

Alaska from Looking for Alaska by John Green. I don’t remember too much from that book, but I do remember really disliking it and detesting Alaska.

b) Which character do you think would be at the top of the nice list?

I haven’t mentioned this book in a while, so I am going to pick Starr Carter from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. She definitely deserves to be at the top of the list.

5. “Frosty the Snowman”

Which book just melts your heart.

Where Rainbows End/Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern – I adore this book (and the film, actually) and really want to reread it soon.

6. “Feliz Navidad”

Choose a book that takes place in a country other than your own.

Most of the books I’ve read have taken place in America and I’m from the UK, so this should be a really easy one. Let’s go for When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon.

7. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”

Which holiday themed book do you use to spread the Christmas joy?

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is probably the only Christmas book that I read almost every year to get into the Christmas spirit.

8. “Sleigh Ride”

Which fictional character would you choose to spend the holidays with (doesn’t have to be a love interest!)

I suddenly can’t think of a character that I remember who really loves Christmas and would be a great choice to spend the day with, so I think I’m going to go for Oscar from When the Curtain Falls by Carrie Hope Fletcher because I really loved him.

9. “Baby it’s Cold Outside”

Which book that you didn’t like would you sacrifice to a fire to warm yourself up in the cold?

Not that I agree with burning books, but if I had to choose it would definitely be The Maze Runner by James Dashner – I really didn’t like it.

10. “Do you hear what I hear”

Which book do you think everyone should read?

Going to go for a poetry book here and choose She Must be Mad by Charly Cox – the way Charly Cox articulates the struggles of mental health within these pages is just beautiful and I think everyone should read it.

I found this one a lot easier than last weeks book tag!

  1. This is a really cute tag! I loved reading your answers. I laughed a lot about you hating Alaska because I totally agree. Feyre is also a great choice for a character who learns to believe in themself! ❤️
