First Lines Friday is hosted by Wandering Words for book lovers!
The Rules are:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
It was a bloody great hotel.
I read this book a while ago and enjoyed it.
It was a strange concept for me. We travel backwards in the story, every chapter flashing back to a few weeks beforehand. It was a strange thing for me to get into to begin with, and then it just ended up being a little too much by the end. It was still enjoyable, but for me, it did lose the enjoyment by the end of the book.
I gave it 3/5 stars.
Imogen is a runaway heiress, an orphan, a cook, and a cheat.
Jule is a fighter, a social chameleon, and an athlete.
An intense friendship. A disappearance. A murder, or maybe two.
A bad romance, or maybe three.
Blunt objects, disguises, blood, and chocolate. The American dream, superheroes, spies, and villains.
A girl who refuses to give people what they want from her.
A girl who refuses to be the person she once was.
