Who Said It Was Over?

In honour of women’s history month, I wanted to share with you a poem I wrote after studying the suffragettes a few years ago.

I like going through old poems and finding which ones I can share with you guys. I share them as I find them, but often sharing them makes me want to edit and add to the poems or subjects surrounding the poems themselves. I will probably end up editing this one – I wrote it about four or five years ago so it has been a while since I have looked at this.

Who Said It Was Over?

We assume that the window cannot be opened

because he’s kept it locked for so long

she before me

couldn’t find the key

she kicked the glass so hard

cracks began to show

boards were put up

torn back down

the window will be smashed

needs to be

we don’t suffocate

in these four walls
